Megger Smart Thump 16

The SMART THUMP ST Series of cable fault locators provides safe, efficient and easy-to-use solution for quickly identifying, pre-locating and pinpointing various types of cable faults for power cables. The ST Series was developed to meet the requirements for typical low- and medium-voltage distribution cable fault location markets. Circuit parameters include: System voltage up to 35 kV Insulation EPR or XLPE Typical conductor sizes between #2 and 500 MCM (34 mm2 to 250 mm2) Typical circuit lengths from a few hundred feet (100 m) up to 3 miles (17,000 ft or 5,000 m). Typical end users include: operations department of power utility The ST Series incorporates the unique capability to access and operate every function through an innovative and intuitive user interface, without the need to make adjustments and the software suggests the next logical step. The interface is shared with the EZ-thump units making operation of both sets totally interchangeable from the viewpoint of training and skill sets of operators.
Megger EZ-Thump Series

The practical and efficient solution range for fast LV and MV fault location.
All Megger EZ-THUMP models are compact and lightweight, simply-operated, battery and AC line operated, portable cable fault location systems. They are designed for quick, effective, accurate and safe fault locating operations to greatly reduce system customer outage minutes.
In a stroke of genius, the EZ-thump uniquely shares the exact same front panel and operating system as the Smart-thump 16 and this offers a major attraction to customers seeking to have standardisation between LV and MV thumpers, especially when it is typically the case that MV thumpers would be used less often than the LV ones.
Due to their rugged yet portable enclosure, they are ideally suited for all typical fault locating operations on MV cable as well as on LV cables. All test voltages feature a 500 Joule surge energy.
The exciting new dual range 1.5/3 kV, and the long-proven 4 kV single range units, offer a convenient solution for industrial fault locating applications up to 3 or 4 kV, street light fault locating or fault locating in LV power circuits in the utility industry. The 1.5/3 kV set has greatly excited the New Zealand market as it offers at last a dedicated and powerful means to locate LV faults without overstressing the LV cables yet still maintaining the full surge energy!
The 12 kV model can be used as part of a “satellite” fault locating concept for remote areas and shorter length MV cables, when ease of operation, light weight and economics are important, or for hard to access inner-city locations.
Megger digiPHONE

The Digiphone plus pinpoints underground cable faults with unprecedented accuracy and sets a new standard by applying innovative audio concepts. This combination results in a pinpointing device for high resistive faults that is unsurpassed in sensitivity.
Digiphone plus works off the “thunder and lightning principle” of fault location. In the same way you can measure how far away a storm is by counting the distant between a faster lightning flash and its slower thunder, this pin pointer works by measuring the energy around an underground fault. If you think of the flashover at a fault as the lightning, the Digiphone measures distance by figuring timing between that electromagnetic “flash” and the seismic (or acoustic) jolt also created at the moment of flashover.

Megger HVB10

Robust, readily portable and easy to use, the HVB10 high-voltage bridge from Megger allows cable and sheath faults in power cables to be prelocated reliably and accurately, even in difficult applications. The instrument, which also has facilities for sheath fault testing and sheath fault pinpointing, is particularly suitable for use on long HV cables, and in situations where pulse-reflection methods of fault prelocation do not give satisfactory results.
