Cable testing is a complex and variable field, often required supporting pieces of test equipment above and beyond the traditional thumper.

The positive identification of a single cable from a bunch poses a technical problem which is often faced by cable technicians.

The purpose of a cable identification is to avoid damage to cables in service with utmost reliability and to protect the operating personnel.

This system has two components; a Base Station to record a reference phase (with respect to the GPS timer signal) and a Field Probe to sample the phase being identified.

Current phasing problems require having to "walk the line" to trace out phases which can take 100+hrs depending on the size of the network, a costly and inefficient exercise; what’s more, it is  often the case that - due to human error, the phase is not correctly identified. The Origo PhaseID system reduces this to 2-3 hrs and identifies multiple phases correctly every time!
